From what I understand s/he battled quite hard for the last 18 months. Summer before last a friend who knew Gen was told by Cosey that s/he was only expecting to live for a matter of weeks.

He was proper insane...I work at the Tate Modern and during an after hours private view about 10 years ago he got pissed and loaded up on speed and tried to rip an Andy Warhol off the gallery wall. Set off the alarms and left a big greasy thumb print on it.

bugger - been caught out again by the lack of "edit your post" feature
It was Nigel Ayers who had the falling out in 90/91. (IIRC because he'd stated in an interview that he felt Sleazy was the strongest creative force behind TG & early PTV)
And Dom Guerin (aka Tone Generator) who was introduced to Burroughs by Gen & Sleazy; and it was Gen I believe who took it upon himself to release Meat Processing Section - and also Gen who I believe said that early SPK were "much more deranged than TG could ever hope to be"

I guess I'm a few (but not that many) years younger than you. I remember various arty films on Channel 4 late at night, with Cosey in the buff pretty much throughout. At first I remember thinking to myself "she looks familiar" before the penny dropped...
I've got a few friends who made a living (either for a while or long term) from "industrial" music and from what I've heard, Cosey was always seen as the most approachable of the 4. One of my mates had a bit of a falling out with Gen & when Cosey got wind of it, she sent my mate a note wishing him all the best on his upcoming tour (that woudl have been 1990/91?)
Then again, it was Gen & Sleazy who gave a few people their breaks, introduced like minded souls to Uncle Bill, etc (both of which true in the case of that mate of mine)
Gen was always the showman - something which always seems to go together with being a flawed character. And sometimes it's hard to know what was just "part of the show" - I guess eventually he became "the show". One interview s/he said that they'd "bodysnatched Neil Megson's body" or words to that effect

Great shame. Cosy worked at my local shop when I was 12 (The South in Well Street) and I'd lose my shit when she served me as I'd seen her naked in nudie books in Victoria park or hidden in St John's cemetery.
Always awkward to know you've wanked over a bird who worked in the corner shop but I loved her.
Used to go as a kid to their house backed up to the train track in a road off Cambridge Heath Rd and they were always great to us kids.
The music used to scare the shit out of me though, a bit like early Crass.
RIP.
